Lena Philip, also known as Queen Ivena, is a former Calypso Monarch and Female Calypso Monarch of Antigua and Barbuda. She is the first woman to win the Calypso Monarch Title.
In 2011, as part of the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day, the Institute of Gender and Development Studies (IGDS), Ivena was awarded by the University of the West Indies (UWI) for her contribution to the art form.The Nita Barrow Unit (NBU) at the UWI Cave Hill, will be honouring women across the region considered to be “Kaiso trailblazers.” [1]
